A Statement to the Left


I’m done apologizing…

 

I am a middle aged, middle class, white American man, and I’m done apologizing.

 

My family came to America in the late 1840’s to escape starvation, disease, and persecution in Ireland.  They couldn’t afford to eat much less own slaves.  I do not owe you reparations.

 

Every conflict that this country has been through from the Civil War to the War in Afghanistan has taken the lives of members of my family; fighting for your freedom, I will not let you compromise mine.

 

Don’t talk to me about equality and equity when what you demand is special treatment.

 

Don’t complain about opportunity while mine is limited so that you can feel valued.

 

Don’t demand respect when you give none and clearly have none for yourself.

 

Don’t speak of rights while you attempt to dissolve my right to teach my children according to my faith and personal values.

 

Don’t champion kindness while your demonstrations are driven by hate.

 

Don’t claim inclusivity while you trample anyone who does not think like you.  

 

Don’t mock my Christianity while you demonstrate no morality.

 

Don’t claim peace and benevolence when your methods are chaos and violence.

 

And most of all… don’t think that good, hard-working people like me are going to remain quietly idle as you destroy our once great nation.  You have pushed us far enough.

A COUNTRY WORTH FIGHTING FOR

My Great Uncle Harry was a veteran of WWI.   Whenever I visited him as a child, I would ask him to see his neatly folded uniform in the chest at the foot of his bed.   Despite my prodding, he would never talk about his time in France, other than to say it was “Hell on Earth.”   I offered the question… “Uncle Harry, if it was so bad, why did you go?” His answer has always stuck with me… “because that’s what young American men did.” He was an amazing man. My job puts me in proximity of soldiers on a regular basis. On a recent visit to Ft Campbell, I had lunch with a group of officers ranging from a new 2nd Lieutenant to a Lieutenant Colonel. They talked with concern about the future of the US Army and the ever-growing shortage of new recruits. A Second Statement to the Left

  Wolves were used by Vikings to attack their enemies in battle. Exceptionally hard to train, wolves only submitted to the will of their masters when food was sharply rationed; made available only in response to 'correct' behaviors. Making wolves completely dependent on their masters for food was the only way to control them. Binding them, beating them, even killing the alpha as an example to the other wolves had no lasting effect. Dependency was the only method to maintain control.   Are you free? When your government feeds you, clothes you, and gives you shelter, does that make you free? When your means of communication, information, and education are all provided to you by your 'elected' officials, does that strengthen your independence?
