THE CHARACTER OF PATRIOTS

“In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility--I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it--and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country.”

Words from former president John F Kennedy’s inaugural address.

If these words were used as a litmus test for character, most every Conservative patriot I know would be validated. Like me, if the time came and the need existed, they would sacrifice a great deal, even their lives, to defend liberty and the soul of this nation. We patriots are not asking what our country can do for us. We are not making demands for special rights. We are not engaged in ludicrous spectacles for attention. Most patriots I know would revel in a quiet existence of freedom… free to live according to our values… free to raise our children and protect our families as we see fit.

What if we held the liberal left up to this litmus test… these words spoken by one of their own over 60 years ago… how would they fare?
